Fumio’s favored weapon is a modified Kusarigama. Instead of a weight on one end of the chain there is a kama at each end. He also uses a ninjato. He wears tiger claws for defense, hand to hand fighting, and climbing. His bracers serve to add a stronger impact to his unarmed blows. He also hides various powders in his bracers which he can ignite by scraping a small flint on his middle finger against his claws.

Fumio was born in a small farming village during the Edo period. When he was young, his village was raided by a group of rogue samurai led byTakeshi Katashi, leader of a radical group of ronin who collect children and raise them as weapons to use against the Meiji Government. Fumio’s parents were killed, but he was rescued by a man believed to be the village drunk. In reality he is the man once known as Sono Naibun, rumored to have singlehandedly turned the tide in the battle of Sekigahara. He was a master of Kuji Kuri techniques. At first he was reluctant to teach Fumio the arts of Ninjutsu fearing he would be little different from Takeshi raising the boy as a weapon. Eventually, he took Fumio under his wing and trained him as a ninja under the condition he not use his knowledge for revenge, but to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Fumio was a brilliant pupil and quickly mastered all techniques Naibun could teach him, but Naibun continued to delay the completion of Fumio’s training, forcing him to perfect each technique he had been taught to him, and provide him with unique variations on it. After Naibun’s death, which occurred under mysterious circumstances, Fumio set out to find Takeshi, not for revenge(he told himself), but to protect those who would fall under his blade in the future, to protect children from being raised as weapons as he was. He hopes Naibun will understand.
